Community Advisory Board

Mission

Representing all parts of the community, The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University has named 13 individuals to its first community advisory board.

The group includes leaders from four ethnic communities, key business leaders and education advocates.

The panel's mission, developed by its chairwoman, Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox, will be to offer an outside perspective on the Phoenix campus' responsiveness to the diverse educational, cultural, and economic needs of the community.

The group was formed by Supervisor Wilcox and University of Arizona President Robert Shelton.

The advisory board will serve to assist the medical school in ensuring that acceptable levels of diversity are among its student classes of the future. It will also assist in the recruitment of minority students into the medical school program working with school districts in Arizona. The committee members are reflective of a cross section of proven community leadership who have devoted years of experience of working to ensure equal representation in all segments of our society. I look forward to their commitment to serve on this most important challenge.
